Jack D. "JD" Dodson, of 4040 North Hall Street, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, passed away at 11:35 PM on Monday, 30 July 1973, at Veterans Hospital in Dallas following a brief bout with cancer. He was 47.
Mr. Dodson was born on Saturday, 18 July 1925, to Charles Robert Dodson and Wilhelmina Smith Dodson, in Poolville, Parker County, Texas. He was the youngest of eleven children.
He had lived for a number of years in Dallas. He was a member of a Dallas area Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a Yeoman Typist Petty Officer Second Class for the United States Navy.
Mr. Dodson was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Birdie Mae Dodson.
He is survived by brother Charles Hester Dodson of Twitty, Wheeler County, Texas, brother Robert Lester Dodson of Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas, brother George William Dodson of Wellman, Terry County Texas, brother Roy Woodrow Dodson of Alice, Jim Wells County, Texas, brother Chancy Ray Dodson of Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, sister Myrtle Lee Dodson Baker of Dallas, sister Naomi Dodson Moore of Kermit, Winkler County, Texas, sister Ila Ruth Dodson Shlapack of Lorain, Lorain County, Ohio, sister Pearly Bell Dodson of Dallas, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Dodson were conducted on Thursday, 02 August 1973, at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Shamrock. Reverend Wendell King, pastor of North Temple Baptist Church of Dallas, assisted by Reverend Murle Rogers, officiated.
Brothers served as pallbearers.
Interment occurred at Shamrock Cemetery under direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Clay Funeral Homes of Shamrock, Wheeler County, Texas.
