"Ella Irene Halvorsen, 94, lifelong resident of Syracuse, died Tuesday, July 15, 1986, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. She was born June 28, 1892, the daughter of Richard J. Beers and Rhoda (Marsh) Beers. She married Carl Halvorsen June 8, 1916, at Syracuse. He died July 21, 1981.
Mrs. Halvorsen was a member of the Syracuse United Methodist Church for 80 years, and was the church's oldest member. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and was a 70 year member of Brilliant Star Chapter #178, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was past matron.
The funeral was Saturday, July 19, 1986, at the Syracuse United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marlon Loftis officiating. The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and
"Amazing Grace". Members of the Brilliant Star Chapter #178, Order of the Eastern Star, served as honor guard. Interment was in Park Hill cemetery, Syracuse."
