Robert Halvorsen of Lincoln, Nebraska

Robert (Bob) Halvorsen, 91, passed peacefully with his children at his side on Sunday after a brief hospitalization.
Born in Syracuse, Nebraska, Bob was the youngest of the seven children of Carl and Ella Halvorsen. As a young man, he enlisted in the Air Force after high school and was stationed in London, England. He met his future wife Edith and brought her back to Nebraska where they were married in 1954. Three children were born to them-Janet (Cooper) of Lincoln, and Keith and Steve of Kansas City.
Edith preceeded him in death in Dec 2022 after almost 70 years of marriage.
Bob began a career with Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph after graduating from UNL. After retirement he continued his life of service to others as a volunteer for SCORE, using his business acumen by helping young entrepreneurs, giving seasoned advice on starting their business ownership careers.
Bob was generous of his time and treasure, in causes he believed in, including Friendship Home, The Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, and many others.
A faithful husband, loving father and grandfather, he will be sorely missed by those who loved him. The family thanks the caring staff at Bryan Hospital for the compassionate care that they gave to our father in his final days.
Per Dad's request, there will be no services and his ashes will be placed next to Edith's at a later date at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln.
