The son of Stark "Starkey" King, William Edward ("Eddie") King's mother may have been Ulilah (or Eulela or Mela) McDaniel King Taylor. She may also have been a woman named Jane (perhaps Jane Smith, also the mother of Edy S. Smith). William Edward ("Eddie") King was a farmer and carpenter born in March 1850 probably in either Jones or Lenoir County, North Carolina. His stepmothers were Martha Patsy Stanly King and Zilphia Benson King, and perhaps Ulilah McDaniel King Taylor. Eddie may have had as many as 20 full or half siblings.

He married Margurett Jane "Maggie" Edwards King on October 20, 1870 in Robeson County, North Carolina, and they had eleven children, at least eight of whom survived infancy, including: daughters: Dannie King (married name unknown), Mattie Clyde Edna King Bailey, Annie Laurie King Tolar, Mary Bertie King Lee, and Nettie Donnie King Neely Riley and sons: Lawrence Adams King, Lonzo ("Lonnie O.") King, and Earnest B. King (aka Earnest Robert Cain). His heritage was English and probably Scots. After the births of their older children, Maggie and Eddie and their children moved from Robeson County, North Carolina to what became Dillon County, South Carolina.

Eddie is probably buried somewhere in either Robeson County, North Carolina or Dillon County, South Carolina where the family moved. I would appreciate any help in zeroing in on the exact cemetery in that area that holds his remains. There is no known photo of Eddie King. I hope one of his descendants will add his photo to this site and solve the mystery of exactly how, where, and when he died and where he is buried. I fear he lies forgotten in an unmarked grave.

Thanks so much to Neely and King family researchers for so much of this information. Any errors, however, are mine alone. Please go to the "edit" link on this site with any corrections or additions.
