(pronounced “Marguerite”) J. “Maggie” Edwards King. She had seven surviving siblings. The family later moved to what became Dillon County, South Carolina.
Bertie married Shockley B. Lee. The King family had a habit of changing their birth dates and birth places and sometimes their names, making it difficult to track them down. Bertie died on December 25, 1942 and is buried in an unmarked grave in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.
For what information is available on Bertie, I am grateful to her sister Nettie King Neely Riley, her great-granddaughter Barbara Poppe, and other King family researchers. Any errors here, however, are mine alone. Please go to the "edit" link on this site with any corrections or additions. If a closer relative than I would like to manage this burial site, please let me know. I hope someone can add her photo to this site.
