Stark "Starkey" King was born about 1820 in Jones County, North Carolina and died about 1892 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He was the son of George King and Penelope "Penny" Taylor King. About 1838 he married Ulilah McDaniel King Taylor in Jones County, and they had at least six children: Susan King, Ivey King, Lewis King, Lucy King, John King, and Sarah King. William Edward "Eddie" King may have also been their child, or he may be a child fathered by Stark with a woman named Jane (perhaps Jane Smith) and shown in the 1850 census as William E. Smith, with a sister Edy S. Smith. Stark and Ulilah divorced about 1851, at her request. Stark then married Martha Patsy Stanly King on December 1, 1853 in Johnston County, and they had ten children: Rosanna "Annie" King, George E. King, Robert King, Narcissa King, Elizabeth King, Julia King Davis, Felix "Buck" King, Esther King, Patsy A. King Herring, and Sarah King. After his second wife's death, Stark married Zilphia Benson King on February 15, 1875 in Johnston County, and they had two children: Hester J. King, and Nettie Louise King Paschal. By all his wives Stark had a total of about 20 children. He is probably buried in the Johnston County, North Carolina area.
