Mary Ireton was born and also died in Indian Territory since Oklahoma didn't come into being until 1907. Her family lived in what was known then as the "Ireton Community", named after his father, John Ireton.
Mary Ireton and her brother, George Ireton, share the same tombstone. Their tombstone is the only one in the family cemetery in its own enclosure. The front of the stone faces west but Mary and George's inscriptions are on the sides of the stone. Mary is on the north and George is on the south. They seem to be the only two graves in this fenced area and there are smaller stones which seem to be their footstones.
