George Ireton was born and also died in Indian Territory since Oklahoma didn't come into being until 1907.
His family lived in what was known then as the "Ireton Community", named after his father, John Ireton.
George Ireton and his sister, Mary Ireton, share the same tombstone. Their tombstone is the only one in the family cemetery in its own enclosure. The front of the stone faces west but Mary and George's inscriptions are on the sides of the stone. George is on the south and Mary is on the north. They seem to be the only two graves in this fenced area and there are smaller stones which seem to be their footstones.
