Edna was born July 28, 1919, in Mount Calvary, the daughter of Frank and Mary Schoenborn Schaefer.
On October 9, 1940, she married Gilson Sabel. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Edna and Gilson owned and operated a dairy farm, retiring in 1987.
Edna was a member of the Pipe Senior Citizens. She worked at the Little Farmer a number of years after her retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Christian Mothers at Holy Trinity Church in Jericho.
She enjoyed playing cards, with various groups and family. She was currently a member of Holy Family Parish - St. Patrick's Church for the past 15 years. Family was the center of her life and she enjoyed the annual get togethers.
Survivors include four sons: Paul (Grace)Sabel of Oakfield, Chuck (Jeanette) Sabel of Chilton, Jerry (Cari) Sabel of Chilton; and Randy Sabel of Fond du Lac; five daughters: Mary Ann (Alan) Roehrig of West Bend, Jean (Larry) Koenigs of Hilbert, Dorothy (Marvin) Meyer of Chilton, Pat (Jim) Walbur of New Holstein and Cindy Sabel of Antigo; 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one sister, Ginny (Eugene) Lefeber of St. Joe; four brothers, Clarence Schaefer of St. Peter, Claude (Stella) Schaefer of Malone, Cyril (Mary) Schaefer of Mt. Calvary, James (Mary) Schaefer of Mt. Calvary.
Edna was preceded in death by one grandson, Luke Roehrig, three sisters; Florence Ziegelbauer, Leona Engel and Marcella Schaefer; one brother, Francis Schaefer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, at Uecker Witt Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. John Radetski officiating. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Sabel will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established in her name for Hospice of Hope.
