Schaefer, Cyril W.

Cyril W. Schaefer, age 78, of Mount Calvary, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 7, 2014, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home following a short illness.

He was born March 31, 1936, in Mount Calvary to the late Frank and Mary (Schoenborn) Schaefer. Cyril attended Holy Cross Grade School in Mount Calvary. He served in the US Army from June 1, 1955 to January 17, 1956. On August 9, 1960, he married Mary Wettstein at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton. Cyril had worked at the former Leverenz Shoe Company in New Holstein and Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until his retirement. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary, the St. Anthony Society, and the Fisherman's Road Fishing Club. He was a retired member of the Mount Calvary Fire Department and a former member of the Redmen.Cyril was an avid fisherman, hunter, woodworker, and "storyteller".

Survivors omitted for privacy.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Mary Schaefer; father-in-law, Joseph Wettstein; a grandson, Matthew Schaefer; five sisters; three brothers; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 12, 2014, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted at the church following the mass. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Mount Calvary.

Family and friends may call at the St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church on Thursday, September 11th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at the church Friday morning September 12th from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
