Francis E. Schaefer, 68, formerly of rural Mount Calvary, died Monday, July 16,1996, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, following a farm accident.

He was born August 27,1927, in Mount Calvary, the son of the late Frank and Mary Schoenborn Schaefer. On July 28, 1978, he married Bernice Simon at St.John the Baptist Church, in Johnsburg.

Mr. Schaefer attended grade school in Mount Calvary, and also served in the United States Army in Alaska during the early 1950's. He operated the Schaefer Homestead Farm from 1953-1993.

Mr. Schaefer was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Mount Calvary, the St. Anthony Society, and the St. Joseph Society of Fond du Lac, Abler-Engel Legion Post No. 454, of Mount Calvary and the American Legion Past Commanders Club of Wisconsin. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, and caring for the environment by planting trees, and digging ponds for wildlife.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, one step-son, Bernie Simon, and his wife Connie of Hilbert; three step-daughters, Judy Hanna of Chilton, Sue Brown and her husband, E.F."Charlie" Brown of Chilton and Chris Van Grinsven and her husband, Guy of Malone; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Engel of Fond du Lac, Edna Sabel of Malone, Virginia Lefeber, and her husband Eugene, of St. Joe; four brothers, Clarence and his wife, Stella, Claude and his wife,Stella, both of Malone, Cyril and his wife, Mary; and James,and his wife Mary, both of Mount Calvary, brother-in-law, Raymond Ziegelbauer of Mequon, many nieces, and nephews that were all very special to him.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Florence Ziegelbauer, of Mequon and Marcella Schaefer of Mount Calvary; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Engel and Gilson Sabel; a son-in-law Gary Hanna.
