Claude J. Schaefer, 79, of W2742 Kiel Road, Malone, died Friday, February 18, 2005, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.
He was born June 6, 1925, in Mount Calvary, the son of the late Frank and Mary Schoenborn Schaefer.
On September 30, 1947, he married Stella Gilles at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. The couple farmed in the Town of Calumet until their retirement.
Claude was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg.
Survivors include his wife, Stella of Malone; two daughters, Rose Ann (Robert) Preissner of Malone and Donna (Richard) Kiesner of Chilton; five grandchildren, Christopher Preissner and his friend, Roxanne, Kelly (Rick) Groeschl, Wendy Becker, Dawn (Matt) Kienbaum and Jeff Kiesner; six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Travis, Billy, Brandon, April and Trenton. He is further survived by one sister, Virginia (Eugene) Lefeber of St. Cloud, three brothers, Clarence Schaefer of St. Peter, Cyril (Mary) Schaefer of Mount Calvary and James (Mary) Schaefer of Mount Calvary; and two sisters-in-law, Viola (Robert) Nett of Fond du Lac and Dorothy Ryan of Eden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Francis and his wife, Bernice Schaefer; sisters, Marcella Schaefer, Edna Sabel and her husband, Gilson, Leona Engel and her husband, Lawrence, and Florence Ziegelbauer and her husband, Ray; and one brother-in-law, Tom Ryan.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. The Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at the church.
