Mrs. Mary Schaefer, nee Schoenborn, of Route 1, Mount Calvary, died at 11:15 a.m., on Wednesday, at her home following a three month illness.

The daughter of Nicholas and Anna Marie Mullenbach Schoenborn, was born October 18, 1896, in Marytown. She married Frank Schaefer on November 24, 1914, in Marytown. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1964.

Mrs. Schaefer was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mount Calvary, and the Christian Mothers and Altar Society.

Survivors include her widower, Frank Schaefer; five sons, Francis, at home, Clarence and Claude, Route 1, Malone; Cyril and James, Mount Calvary; four daughters: Mrs. Lawrence (Leona)Engel, Route 1, Mount Calvary, Mrs. Gilson (Edna)Sabel, Route 1, Malone, Mrs. Raymond (Florence) Ziegelbauer, Mequon; Mrs. Eugene (Virginia)Lefeber, Route 1, St. Cloud; 38 granchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Schaefer, Marytown.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcella, and a grandson, Allan Engel, who was killed June 19, in Vietnam; two brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Friday,after 3 p.m., at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Schaefer, who died Wednesday, were held at 9 a.m. today at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mount Calvary.

Rev. Earl Goeden, O.F.M. Cap., officiated. Burial was in Holy
Cross Cemetery, Mount Calvary. The Christian Mothers and Altar Society attended the services in a body.

Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Ben Steffes, Mrs. Harold Brenner, Mrs. Bernard Brenner, Mrs. Bernard Schneider, Mrs. Arland Bord and Mrs. James Birschbach.

Active pallbearers were David Engel, Richard Schaefer, Paul Sabel, Eugene Lefeber Jr., Ronald Ziegelbaurer and William Engel.


Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, and at 9:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rev. Earl Goeden, OFM Cap. officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
