Chariton, Iowa
Tuesday, October 29, 1940

MRS. LOUISA MUNDELL

Mrs. Louisa Mundell passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Maddy, in Chariton, Iowa, on Saturday morning, October 19, 1940, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 11 days. She had been in failing health for some time.

Louisa Stumbaugh, daughter of James and Barbara Stumbaugh, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, on March 8, 1866. She grew to womanhood in this vicinity and was married on October 21, 1884, to Robert Mundell.

To this union eleven children were born, seven daughters and four sons, one of whom, a daughter, passed away in infancy. All of the others were present during her last illness and death.

In July, 1927, she united with the Baptist church at Goshen. While the condition of her health had not permitted her to attend church regularly, she had found much comfort in her radio and was a constant listener to church services each morning and on Sundays.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a splendid neighbor, ever thoughtful of the welfare of others and ready to lend a helping hand in the time of need.

She leaves to mourn their loss her six daughters and four sons. They are Mrs. A. H. Maddy, of Chariton; Mrs. Laura Kent, of near Lucas; Mrs. Velma Halferty, of near Chariton; Mrs. Pearl Mowery, of near Lucas; Mrs. Anna Mosier, of Reed Point, Mont.; Mrs. Florence Logsdon, of Weldon; Ernest Mundell, of Gridley, Calif.; Enos Mundell, of Osceola; George Mundell, of Woodburn; and Perry Mundell, of Derby.

She also leaves thirty-six grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one brother, Staten Stumbaugh, of Reed Point, Mont.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Her husband preceded her in death in 1930, and an infant daughter in 1906.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, of Russell, assisted by Rev. E. F. Partridge, of this city, were held Sunday afternoon, October 20, at two o'clock at the First Baptist church in Chariton with burial in the Goshen cemetery.
