MUNDELL
George Elery Mundell, son of Robert and Louisa (Stumbaugh) Mundell, was born in Lucas County, Iowa, May 24, 1899 and died at his home in LeRoy, September 13, 1973 at the age of 74 years, three months and 19 days.
He was united in marriage to Bessie Viola Gwinn, February 21, 1923. To this union were born two children, Dwight Vivian and Joan June.
George engaged in farming all of his active life, operating farms in Lucas, Clarke and Decatur Counties. In 1947 the family moved to Leroy, and there formed many friendships.
George knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, ad was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie; daughter, Joan of Leroy; son, Dwight and wife Beulah of Winterset; two grandsons, Michael and wife Linda of Carlisle, Timothy of Winterset; great-granddaughter, Sarah of Winterset; mother-in-law Lulu Gwinn of Leroy; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Mowery and Mrs. Velma Halferty of Chariton, and Mrs. Florence Logsdon of Van Wert; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services, under the direction of the Stewart-Duerr Funeral Home, were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 1973 at the Leroy Presbyterian Church. Officiating was the Rev. Clifford Haider of Humeston. Interment was at the Goshen Cemetery.
