KENT - Laura May Kent, daughter of Lou and Robert T. Mundell, was born February 24, 1894 in Lucas County and passed away January 29, 1967, at the Memorial Hospital, Chariton, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and five days.
She was united in marriage October 9, 1910 to William Kent. To this union nine children were born: Mrs. Andrew (Cleo) Gwinn, Woodburn; Mrs. William (Cecil) Boyd, Chariton; Mrs. John (Zella) Garner, Chariton; Mrs. Rolland (Twyla) Rollstin, Des Moines; Mrs. Albert (Wilma) Baker, Lucas; Wayne Kent, Grays Lake, Ill.; Vernon Kent, Dow City; Mrs. Lewis (Vera) Manor, Des Moines; and Dwight Kent, Des Moines.
Also to mourn her passing are 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, six sons-in-law and three daughters-in-law; three sisters, Mrs. Thurman Mowery, Chariton; Mrs. Elza Logston, Van Wert; Mrs. Joe Halferty, Chariton; two brothers, Earnest Mundell, San Francisco, Calif.; and George Mundell, LeRoy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kent, by four months and eight days. Also by both parents, two brothers, three sisters, one son-in-law and one granddaughter.
Laura was a life long resident of Lucas County. She had many friends and relatives.
In October, 1914, she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and remained a faithful member throughout her life. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother, devoted to her home and family, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder Herbert Lively with Elder Wayne Watkins assisting at 1:30 p.m., February 1, 1967, at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
