Robert youngest son of Otto and Bessie Sanders Richeson was born October 30, 1918 at Rhodes. On February 27, 1941 he married Fern E. Rumbaugh, daughter of George and Fannie Kendig Rumbaugh from Mingo, Iowa. They farmed for several years. From 1949 to 1950 they owned and operated a restaurant in Rhodes, in a building on the east side of Main Street [now torn down] called the Coffee Cup Cafe.
In April of 1950 they purchased the home farm from Bob's folks and lived there until they sold it in 1969.
Bob and Fern have three children, Gary Robert, born October 30, 1943; Jack Eugene, born December 2, 1951 and Gloria Jane, born September 11, 1955.
After selling the farm they moved to Rhodes. Bob is employed at Fisher Controls and Fern at Dunham Bush in Marshalltown.
In November of 1961, Bob and Fern were able to visit their son Gary and his wife Linda in Seoul, Korea. The Air Force Personnel were able to have their families visit them on a five day guided tour so they made the trip and enjoyed the guided tour. They spent the rest of the time visiting and sight-seeing with Gary and Linds. They were gone two weeks.
