Grace Mae Rumbaugh Long, the 4th of 14 children, was born to George and Fanny Kendig Rumbaugh on January 10, 1901 at Greencastle, Iowa. On March 22, 1922, she was married to Clarence H. Long in Des Moines. To that union was born two children, Harold D. and Doris J. Grace and Jim lived on farms in the Farrar-Mingo area all their married life, until they retired to their home in Farrar in 1949. Grace was a member of the Farrar United Methodist Church, the Farrar U.M.W. and the Farrar Cemetery Association.
Grace died of heart failure on Jul 14, 1991 at the Mercy Medical Center at 90 years of age. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Long; Harold and Alice Long and Doris and Bill McGinnis; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Rumbaugh of Mingo; George of Baxter, Reid of Mingo and Harold of Collins; three sisters, Bernadene Tinnemeier of Newton, Eva Morrison of Collins and Fern Richeson of Rhoads; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, four sisters, Iva Green, Ruby Borts, Helen Carver and Mildred Borts; and two brothers, Carroll and Raleigh.
Grace treasured her family and friends. She beautified her spot in this world with the flowers she tended around her home. She is gone but not forgotten; her memory lingers on; She has only gone home.

Maxwell, IA. -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Farrar United Methodist Church for Grace M. Long of Maxwell. Burial will be in the Farrar Cemetery. Mrs. Long, 90, died of a heart ailment Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Born in Greencastle, she was a lifelong resident of the Farrar, Mingo and Maxwell areas and had been a homemaker and member of United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence of Mitchellville; a daughter, Doris McGinnis, and a son, Harold, both of Farrar; three sisters, Bernadene Tinnermeier of Newton, Eva Morrison of Collins and Fern Richeson of Rhodes; four brothers, George Rumbaugh of Baxter, Harold Rumbaugh of Collins and Paul Rumbaugh and Reid Rumbaugh, both of Mingo; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Farrar United Methodist Church.
