Mrs Peter Bahr passed away at her home in Springview, following an illness caused by strokes. She was stricken in January, 1931, and had had several since, the last one Saturday evening at 8 o'clock from which she never regained consciousness.
Ernestine Fredriken Kussmann was born in Charmkow (actually
Czarnków) Germany (now Poland), Dec 2, 1858, and died at her home in Springview, Nebraska, January 13, 1936, at the age of 77 years, 1 month, and eleven days. With her parents she came to American in 1859, settling at Stevenspoint. Wisconsin. Later, they moved to Waterloo, Iowa where her girlhood days were spent. From there the family moved to Richardson county, Nebraska. On February 23, 1878, she was married to Peter Bahr at Falls City, Nebraska. To this union were born fourteen children, ten of whom are still living. The first six year of married life was spent in Richardson, then in 1884, Mr and Mrs Bahr moved to Brown county, where they homesteaded and were among the early pioneers of northern Nebraska. She spend forty years on a farm east of Springview, and the last twelve years in Springview.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her husband, four sons, Albert of Colorado, Peter of South Dakota, William and Ora of Springview, Nebraska; six daughter, Mrs Edith Muth and Mrs (Lillian) Harry Estes of Colorado, Mrs (Emma) Merle Dubel of Burton, Nebraska, Mrs (Doris) Chas Gipson of Smithville, Nebraska, and Alta of Ord, Nebraska; twenty-seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves four brothers, Frank, Herman and Louis of Richardson county, Nebraska, Will of Kansas; four sisters;
Mrs Augusta Newsam, of Pawnee county, Nebraska; Mrs Emma (Harvey) Taylor and Mrs Minnie (Leroy) Colson, both of Richardson county Nebraska; and Mrs Edith Shrewsberry, of California; with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs Bahr was a patient loving wife, a kind and loyal neighbor, and devoted her life in serving others. She was loved by all who knew her.
The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church in Springview Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Miss Hartsock in charge. Interment was made in the Mount Hope cemetery.
She became a US citizen in 1873.
