Alta N. Bahr was born Aug 4, 1902, to Peter and Ernestine Kussman Bahr at Pine Camp, an area southeast of Springview, and died June 30, 1986 at the age of 83 years.
She attended grade school at Pine Camp and was a 1921 graduate of Keya Paha County High School. After graduation, she taught school in Keya Paha County and Sioux County.
From 1925 to 1946 she did Gospel Missionary in Nebraska and Wyoming. In 1946 she started caring for elderly people in Scottsbluff and Torrington, Wyoming.
She attended Scottsbluff Junior college in 1954 and taught several years in Sioux County. Later she attended Chadron State College and received her Bachelor's degree in 1965. She taught in the rural schools of Rock county, retiring in 1968.
She enjoyed traveling and made trips to the West Coast, California and Canada. After her retirement she resided in the Meadow View Home in Bassett.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs Sylvia (Ora) Bahr, and Mrs Frances (William) Bahr, many nieces and nephews in Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, California and Washington.
Services were held at Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth, July 5, 1986, 2 pm with John Lambotte and Ray Hauenstine officiating. Music was provided by Eunice Modin, Elouise Snow and Roland Serr. Casket bearers were Stephen Cronk, Dean Snow, Irvin Stouffer, Roland Serr, Dale Worth and Carl Ingwersen. Internment was at Mount Hope Cemetery and Springview, Nebraska.
