He was born June 13, 1942, the son of James and Goldie Brown Burkhardt. He was a self-employed farmer, a former member of the National Guard, and a member of the Mount Byrd Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife; one son; three sisters: private, private, Evelyn Mahoney of Indpls., five brothers: (3 private) & Forrest & Norman Burkhardt; and two grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 2 p m EDT Friday at the Mount Byrd Church, with burial in Moffett Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p m EDT Thursday, and from 9 am to noon EDT Friday, at the church. A private family visitation will be from noon until time of service Friday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, or the Institute for the Blind.
