Pastor William Frederick "Bill" Burkhardt, age 75, of Carrollton, Kentucky entered March 2, 1947 in Trimble County, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late James Frederick and Goldie Gill Brown Burkhardt. He was raised in Trimble County, Kentucky and graduated there in 1965. He then attended Sullivan Business College and was raised in the Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Trimble County, Kentucky. On August 5, 1966 he was united in marriage to Mabel E. McDowell at the First Apostolic Church in Carrollton by Bro. Cecil Ellison. This happy union of 56 years was blessed with a daughter, Bridgette. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1967 and rose to the rate of Specialist serving in the Vietnam War in communications. He was honorably discharged after serving 19 months there. Bill began a career with Dow Corning in Carrollton and worked in Quality Control, retiring after 33 years of service as a QA Lab Tech. Bill served as a Pastor of the Abundant Life Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Carrollton, Kentucky until his death. He also had served as a Pastor for five years in Trimble County and for four years in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. He was a devoted man of God who visited the shut ins, the sick, and those in nursing homes. He loved to sing and would join his voice with the Heaven Bound Quartet. Bill found peace in the beauty of the outdoors, taking beautiful pictures, deer hunting and enjoying what God had placed in his life. He enjoyed playing the game of Checkers and had won the national championship. Bill will be greatly missed, he was a beloved husband, devoted daddy, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Bill died on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10:10 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with his loving family at his side.

Bill will be missed by his loving wife, Mabel E. McDowell Burkhardt of Carrollton, Kentucky; his loving daughter, Bridgette Durio of Orlando, Florida; his grandson, Brayden Barwick of Orlando, Florida; his granddaughter, Beriah Burkhardt of Carrollton, Kentucky; his great grandchildren, Kamen and Aryiah Fitzgerald; his brother, Larry Burkhardt and his wife, Barbara of Milton, Kentucky; his sister in laws, Betty Burkhardt of Milton, Kentucky, Wanda McDowell of Carrollton, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, James Frederick Burkhardt, died November 13, 1992, his mother, Goldie Gill Brown Burkhardt, died April 19, 1995, his sisters, Delma Mae Richmond, died October 1, 2018, Evelyn June Mahoney, died May 11, 2009, Neola Doris Burkhardt, died April 6, 1941 and Myrtle Lee Purvis, died June 2, 2017, his brothers, Norman Douglas Burkhardt, died July 25, 2011, Phillip Darrell Burkhardt, died May 30, 2003, Forrest Gayle Burhardt, died July 27, 2007, James Dale Burkhardt, February 22, 1931, David Lee Burkhardt, died August 1, 2017, his father in law and mother in law, Ernest McDowell, died April 30, 1988 and Ida Cull Harmon McDowell, died January 18, 2000 and his brother in law, Kenneth Eugene McDowell, died December 25, 2013.
BILL'S HOME-COMING CEREMONY
Bill's life will be celebrated on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Jerry Stumler and Pastor Richard Reed at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, Kentucky.
VISITATION
Friends may visit Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
A final salute and military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
