Forrest G. Burkhardt, 72, of Milton, Ky., died Friday, July 27, 2007 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Trimble County, Ky., the son of James and Goldie Brown Burkhardt. He was a magistrate in his county for 17 years. He loved farming and also worked as a welder for Williamson Heater Company for 27 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was involved in many community activities including: Kipda, Milton Lions Club, the Cattleman's Association and the Tri-County Community Action Board of Directors. He was a member of Mt. Byrd Christian Church for 45 years. He served on the church board and as the Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed finding arrowheads while out four-wheeling.

He is survived by his wife Betty Bliton Burkhardt; four children, Theresa Edwards of Milton, Ky., Cathie Pratt of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Keith Burkhardt of Milton, Ky. and Stacey Burkhardt of Milton, Ky.; seven siblings, Myrtle Purvis, Norman Burkhardt, Delma Richmond, Evelyn Mahoney, David Burkhardt, Larry Burkhardt and Billy Burkhardt; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, James, Doris and Phillip Burkhardt.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Milton, Ky. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today or Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mt. Byrd Christian Church. Contribution envelopes will be available at the church.

Ransdell Funeral Home of Bedford, Ky. is in charge of arrangements.

MILTON, Ky. โ€“ Forrest G. Burkhardt, 72, of Milton, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 31, at Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Milton with Brother Aaron Snelling officiating. Burial was in Moffett Cemetery, Milton.

Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford, Ky., was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burkhardt was born Sept. 16, 1934, in Trimble County, the son of the late James and Goldie (Brown) Burkhardt.

He married Betty Bliton.

He was a magistrate who served his county in District 1 for 17 years. He also farmed and worked as a welder for Williamson Heater Company. He retired after 27 years of service.

He was a member of Mt. Byrd Christian Church for 45 years. He served on the church board and as the Sunday School superintendent.

He was involved in many community activities; Kipda, Milton Lions Club, Cattleman's Association, Tri-County Community Action Board of Directors. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.

He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

While out four wheeling he enjoyed finding arrowheads for his collection.

Survivors include his wife of Milton; four children, Theresa Edwards: Keith Burkhardt and his wife Mary Jean: Stacey Burkhardt and his wife Melissa: all of Milton; and Cathie Pratt and her husband Mark of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; brothers and sisters, Myrtle Purvis, Norman Burkhardt, Delma Richmond, Evelyn Mahoney, David, Larry and Billy Burkhardt; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, James, Doris and Phillip Burkhardt.

Pallbearers were Gary Luckett, Frankie Ginn, Jerry Owens, Leroy Liter, Norvel Barnes and Bobby Temple.

Memorials may be directed toward Mt. Byrd Christian Church building fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
