Death has again invaded the ranks of our few remaining pioneers and William J. Darrow has joined the silent majority. Deceased was born in Pittsburg, Oct. 31, 1843, and died at his home in Argyle, Sept. 18, 1914, aged 70 years, 10 months and 17 days. Deceased came to Wisconsin in 1849 and lived continously on the same farm until his death. On Dec. 28, 1869, he was united in marriage to Miss Fannie Lyons, daughter of the late James Lyons. Nine children were born to them, all of whom are now living.
Of his sons, Thos. J. and Joseph D. reside in Argyle, Robert P. and David S. live in Rockford, and William's present address is unknown. Of his daughters, Mrs. Mary J. Cassidy and Mrs. Margaret Ryan reside in Blanchardville, Mrs. Frances Mellom lives in Freeport and Mrs. Blanche Schoff in Argyle.
He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jane McManus, Darlington and Mrs. Sarah Finley, Bryant, S.D.
The funeral was held on Sunday and over one hundred and forty teams followed the remains to their last resting place in the Fayette Cemetery.
