Mrs. Oscar E. Mellom, 1218 W. Pleasant St., died in her home Saturday evening after a brief illness.

The former Frances Sarah Darrow was born near Argyle, Wis., Feb. 16, 1881, the daughter of William J. and Fanny Darrow.

Her marrriage to Oscar E. Mellom took place at Blanchardville, Wis., Nov. 23, 1904. They lived there until May, 1913, when they came to Freeport.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Darrell J., Freeport; and a daughter, Mrs. Elmer J. (Leota) Hoffman, Freeport. There are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. After the death of another daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Vades) Borneman, Mr. and Mrs. Mellom reared her two children, Robert Borneman, now living in Decatur, Ga.; and Mrs. R.J. (Barbara) Eudeikis, Momence, Ill. Two sisters and four brothers survive, Mrs. R.A. Schoff and David, Rockford,; Mrs. William Cassidy, Mineral Point, Wis.; William St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Joseph, Argyle. A brother and sister died previously.

She was a member of Embury Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and White Shrine.

Service will be in the Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home at 3 pm Wednesday. The Rev. Paul Bloomquist, pastor of Embury Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home.
