Rachel LAURA was the child of Carl Cherland and Katie Halligan. She was adopted when a few months old by William H and Ethel M (Leyenburger) Hyde in Iowa and they later moved to California. She married Delbert Scott Waltermire (1897-1987) in 1930 in Los Angeles County, California and they divorced. She married Jack Ross in the mid-1940s and both he and their adopted daughter, Laurie, preceded Laura in death. She was cremated and her ashes were spread over Jack and Laurie's stones.
*Laura met her Cherland birth parents and siblings in Minnesota in 1941. Birth brothers Milton and Bob had met her in California earlier.
