Obituary:
The funeral for Carroll E Cherland will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Philip Formo officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth, Minn.
Mr. Cherland, 81, of 1815 34th Street N.W., died Thursday (September 15, 1994) at his home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1913 in rural Blue Earth, Minn. On May 29, 1937, he married Mildred Kallestad in Blue Earth. Mr. Cherland was employed at the Schwens Ice Cream Co. He lived in the Blue Earth area most of his life. The couple moved to Rochester in 1968 and he worked as an engineer with the Rochester Public School System from 1968 until he retired in 1978. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Blue Earth Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Bruce of Austin, Texas, and Craig of Eagan; two daughters, Kathleen Park of Fair Haven, N.J. and Marlys Kaiser of Blue Earth; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alvina Kallestad of Park Rapids, Minn. and Kathleen Sohn of Blue Earth; and a brother, Richard Cherland of Banning, California. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
