Obituary:
Funeral services for Wayne R Cherland, 74, Blue Earth, were held Jan 9, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.
Mr. Cherland died Friday, Jan. 5, 1990, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation was Monday at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Wayne Richard Cherland, son of Carl and Katherine (Halligan) Cherland, was born June 15, 1915, in Pilot Grove Township, Faribault County, Minnesota. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1934.
He married Kathryn Peterson on July 8, 1939 in Iowa. He worked for the Blue Earth Light and Water Department for 16 years and then he worked for the Blue Earth Valley Telephone Company. He was with the Blue Earth volunteer fire department for 27 years. He was a member and active in the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Carole Nelson, Brooklyn Center, and Mrs. Greg (Carna) Brandt, Forest Lake; two granddaughters; two brothers, Carroll, Rochester, and Richard, Banning, California; and two sisters, Alvina Kallestad, Park Rapids, and Kathleen Sohn, Blue Earth.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
