WAYNESBORO - Ruth M Peiffer, 85, of 306 W. Eighth St. died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1986, in Waynesboro Hospital, In failing health for a number of years, she was last admitted to the hospital Nov. 9. She was critically ill for two days.

Born April 5, 1901, in Liberty Township, Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel G, and Jessie K. Deihl Sprenkle.

Most of her life was lived in the Waynesboro area.

She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren Church.

She and her husband, Aaron G. Peiffer, were married in June 1919 and moved to the present residence in 1921. He died in September 1962.

Surviving are 13 children, Lenora R. Shatzer and Arthur G. Peiffer, both of Hagerstown, Md., Charles A. Peiffer, Mary J. Hoffman, Margaret Wagaman and Gerald E. Peiffer, all of Waynesboro, Kathryn J. O'Donnell, Shirley M. Spealman and Sandra D. Huber, all of Chambersburg, Kenneth L. Peiffer of Cumberland, Md., Lowell E, Peiffer of Frederick, Md., Frederick D. Peiffer of Mercersburg and Trudy J. Wagaman of Springfield, Va.; three stepchildren, V. Ruth Peiffer of Fayetteville and Helen L. Minnich and J. Norman Peiffer, both of Waynesboro; 39 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and these sisters and brothers, Ramona Martin, Ethel Brake and Omer Sprenkle, all of Waynesboro, Virginia Brawner and Beulah Chesin, both of Florida, and Lester Sprenkle of Fayetteville.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Otterbein United Brethren Church. The Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Grove Funeral Home, South Broad Street.
