Lowell Emmert Peiffer, 81, of Ellsworth, ME and Waynesboro, PA went home to be with the Lord, Sunday July 28, 2013. Lowell loved God, his family, and friends. He was born in Waynesboro, PA on February 29, 1932 to Aaron G. Peiffer and Ruth M. Sprenkle Peiffer. He was one of 19 children, then married and had three of his own children.

He attended Waynesboro Schools, joined the Army and served in the infantry in Germany. He also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He worked in private enterprise and retired as a federal employee at Fort Detrick Maryland.

Lowell attended Maine Coast Baptist Church. He enjoyed living in Maine and made many new friends. He had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. He also went out of his way to make others happy.

Lowell is survived by a son, Douglas Peiffer of Danville, VA, two daughters, Diane A (husband Edward) Bonney of Ellsworth, ME and Dorene K (husband Gregory) Haug of Silver Spring, MD. Lowell has two granddaughters -Nicole Bonney (husband Bernard) Auth and Kirsten Haug, and two grandsons- Brandon Bonney and Nicholas Haug,

He is survived by four sisters, Mary Jane Hoffman and Margaret "Peggy" Wagaman both of Waynesboro, Shirley Barnes of Chambersburg, PA, Trudy J. Moore of Springfield, VA, three brothers, Kenneth L. Peiffer, Gerald E. Peiffer both of Waynesboro, and Frederick D. Peiffer of Mercersburg, PA and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles A. Peiffer,
Arthur G. Peiffer, J. Norman Peiffer, Lester Peiffer, Harold Peiffer, and six sisters,
Lenora Peiffer Shatzer, J. Kathryn O'Donnell, Sandra D. Huber, V. Ruth Peiffer, Helen L. Minnich and Evelyn Shadle.

Graveside Services will be held for the family at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, where he will be laid to rest with his parents and other family.

He was hoping to attend his 50th family reunion coming up in August, but will be celebrating with family in Heaven instead.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Maine Coast Baptist Church in Ellsworth, Maine or the Lamoine Baptist Church in Lamoine, Maine both which prayed for him faithfully throughout his illness.
