Omar P. Sprankle
QUINCY, Pa. - Omar Preston Sprankle, 90, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 5475 Iron Bridge Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 5, 1909 in Zora, Pa., Liberty Township, Adams County, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Jesse Diehl Sprankle.
His wife, Evelyn R. Singer Sprankle, died Aug. 21, 1992. They were married May 30, 1934.
He attended the one room schools of Plain Hill School and Union School in the Marsh area.
He was employed in his early years at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, and then Waynesboro Nipple Works. He and his wife owned and operated the Trailer Diner on Route 16 for 30 years. He retired in 1979. He was also a carpenter.
He was a member of Wayne Heights Brethren Church, Wayne Heights, which he helped build.
He was a member of South Chapter 2977 AARP, Waynesboro and National AARP.
He is survived by a daughter, Norene M. Pugh of Waynesboro; a grandson, Stephen R. Pugh of Waynesboro; a sister, Ethel Brake of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 11 sisters and brothers and his stepmother, Irene Burger Spangler.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Harold W. Walton will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
