DEATH TAKES F. D. LAIL, 54

Fred Dewitt Lail, 54, of 149 Twenty-first Avenue, NW, Hickory, died at a local hospital this afternoon at 12:15 o'clock, following an illness of two weeks.
A veteran of World War II, he was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Alexander county to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lail.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Essie Mae Benfield Lail; one son, Perry Arnold Lail of the home; six brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Lail was a member of Viewmont Baptist church, and was employed by Simmons Hosiery Mill of Hickory.
Hickory Funeral Home is in charge of Arrangements.

LAIL FUNERAL SET THURSDAY

Funeral services for Fred Dewitt Lail, 54, who died just after noon Tuesday in a Hickory hospital, will be held Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at Viewmont Baptist church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Albert A. Young officiating. Burial will be in the Isaac Creek Church of God cemetery.
Mr. Lail who lived at 149 Twenty-first Avenue, NW, Hickory, had been ill for two weeks. A veteran of World War II, he was born in Alexander county to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lail.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Essie Mae Benfield Lail; one son, Perry Arnold Lail of the home; six brothers, Dexter, Frank and Clyde Lail of Granite Falls; Dock Lail of Hildebran; Gaither Lail of Route One, Taylorsville and Troy Lail of Route One, Conover; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph White of Route One, Taylorsville, Mrs. Bill Lane of Hickory, and Mrs. Jim Myers of Route One, Granite Falls.
Mr. Lail was employed by Simmons Hosiery Mill of Hickory.
The family will receive friends from seven until nine o'clock tonight at the Hickory Funeral Home, and the body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the services.
