Gaither Lee Lail, 91, of Pellcare Nursing Center, died May 28, 2001, at Pellcare Nursing Center after a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 28, 1909, in Alexander County, a son of the late Julius S. and Bessie Bolick Lail.
A member of Bethlehem Church of God, he retired from Shuford Mills as a card mill worker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Louise Harrison; an infant son, William P. Lail; two daughters, Linda K. Lail and Sheila D. Lail; five brothers, Fred Lail, Dexter Lail, Troy Lail, Frank Lail and Dock Lail; a son-in-law,Jim Holland; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Lail; two great-grandaughters; and a great-great grandson.
Survivors include six sons, Gene Lail, Jimmy Lail and Larry Lail of Bethlehem, Donald Lail of Hickory, Gary Lail of Sherrills Ford, and Gwyn A. Lail of St. Peters, Mo.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and George Fox of Claremont, Doris and John Wayne Sebastian of Hildebran, Cindy and George Kelsoe of Hickory, Bessie Holland of Bethlehem; a brother in law, James Harrison of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Timothy Lail of Granite Falls; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maudie Myers of Granite Falls, Rosella and Ralph White of Taylorsville, and MaeBell and Bill Lane of Hickory; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Howard Smith and Robert Warren at 2 p.m. Wednesday at his church.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
The family will be at Hickory Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
