TAYLORSVILLE - Julius S. Lail, 97, of Rt. 1, Granite Falls, died Wednesday at an area hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1889 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Timothy and Caroline Sasser Lail.
He was a retired farmer and was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Bolick Lail and two sons, Troy Lail and Fred Lail.
Survivors include five sons, Gaither Lail of Taylorsville, Dock Lail of Connelly Springs and Clyde Lail, Dexter Lail and Frank Lail of Granite Falls; three daughters, Maudie Meyers of Granite Falls, where he made his home, Rozella White of Taylorsville and Mae Bell Lane of Hickory; 43 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Robert Wiggins, Forest Evans and James Rogers at 2 p.m. Friday at Isaac Creek Church of God where he was a member. The body will be placed in the church 30 mintues prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Adams Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to Isaac Creek Church of God Building Fund.
