Hastings resident Albert A. Sidlo, 81, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. William Deahl and the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Cloverton Cemetery at Bladen. Book signing is noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used to support the Cloverton Cemetery of rural Bladen.

Mr. Sidlo was born February 21, 1925, to Bohumil Frank and Elizabeth (Strobl) Sidlo in Amboy. He attended Amboy grade school and graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1944. He was a junior fireman in Red Cloud in high school and was junior fire captain in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from July 19, 1946, to July 13, 1948, stationed at Louisville, Ky. He married Wanda Lewis in 1951. He was a Hastings City Fireman from 1953 until his retirement in 1975. He has lived in Hastings most of his life. He was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Hastings. He enjoyed people, pets, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Wanda of Hastings; three sons, Michael and wife Cyndie of Hastings, Randy and wife Alicia of Littleton, Colo., and Kirby and wife Angela of Astoria, Ore.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Duaine Sidlo of Red Cloud; one sister, Mary Wittwer of Hastings; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
