Last Rites Held for Bohumil F. Sidlo, Jr.
Funeral services for Bohumil F. Sidlo, Jr., were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Amack & Son Funeral Home, by the Rev. W. C. Hansen. Pallbearers were his three brothers, Albert, Emil and Duaine Sidlo, Joseph Haller, John Smith and Allen Giger. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mountford, with Mrs. Robert Swanson as accompanist, sang "God Be with You Till We Meet Again" and "Does Jesus Care." Interment was made in the city cemetery in the family lot.
Junior, as he was known to his many friends here, lost his life while at work at the Gateway Products Company mill, at Amboy. He was alone at the time and just what happened is not known, but it is surmised that as he was loading sacks of feed, he stepped up on a sack in order to reach the top of the pile, and that it slipped with him, letting him fall down the opening in the floor, to the room below, a distance of eleven feet. The bag of grain was lying beside him. He was taken to the Maynard hospital, but lived for only about an hour.
Bohumil F. Sidlo, Jr., son of B. F. and Elizabeth Sidlo, was born October 5, 1926 at Amboy, Nebraska, and passed away September 9, 1948, at the Maynard hospital. At the time of death, Junior was 21 years, 11 months and 4 days old.
He started to school at District 30, near Amboy, then moved to Red Cloud with his parents in December, 1933, where he entered the local schools.
February 6, 1946, he was inducted into the army. He spent one year, one month and 17 days in service, of which eight months he was with the occupational forces on duty in Japan.
One brother, Vencil, preceded him in death, while serving in the navy during World War II.
Junior leaves to mourn his passing, his mother and father; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Haller and Mary Sidlo; three brothers, Emil, Albert, Duaine; as well as many relatives and friends.
Junior possessed an even disposition. Early in life he realized the meaning of punctuality and reliability, was always on time at his assigned job and could be depended upon to carry it through to completion. A hard worker, he was more or less of a studious nature and to no little extent was interested in aviation. A liberal portion of his earnings were spent in reading material and instructions which might tend to benefit him along these lines.

Slow dusk has fallen, and your steps no more
Make music on the empty upper floor, and day is fully past.
We who so lightly let you go alone,
Evening by evening, from our trustful sight
