Frank Bohumil Sidlo, the son of Vaclav and Marie Bartunek Sidlo, was born January 30, 1896, in Czechoslovakia. He departed this life on Sunday, August 18, 1985 at his home in Red Cloud at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Frank came to the United States in 1912 at the age of 16. He made his home in the Webster County area where he worked as a farm hand for a time. He then began employment at the Amboy Mill for several years. In June of 1918 he was married to Elizabeth Pauline Strobl. To this union were born 7 children, Rose, Vencil, Emil, Albert, Junior, Mary and Duaine. They made their home on the farm until 1934, when they moved into Red Cloud to live. While in town, Frank was employed in carpentry and masonry work.

In his leisure hours, Frank was an avid spectator of watching the kids play baseball. He also spent a great deal of time relaxing and enjoying collecting stamps.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth on July 28, 1970; two sons, Vencil and Junior; his parents and two sisters.

Left to treasure his memory are two daughters, Rose Haller of Red Cloud and Mrs. Mary Wittwer and husband, George of Kenesaw, Nebraska; three sons, Emil Sidlo of Kenesaw, Albert Sidlo and wife, Wanda of Hastings, and Duaine Sidlo and wife, Parthena of Red Cloud; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and his many friends. Frank will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, 1985, from the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. F. J. Leiblinger, officiant. Louise Eldred sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Barbara Sprague, organist. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Staley, Bob McCartney, Bob Buckles, Norman Kaforke and Alois Hubl. Casket bearers were Larry Haller, Sonny Sidlo, Michael Sidlo, George Wittwer, Garry Wittwer and Leonard Borho. Interment was in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
