Stroke Causes Death
Of John T. Hunt,
Davis Pioneer


John T. Hunt, pioneer resident of this community, passed away about 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, 1951, at the age of 48 years 9 months and four days.

He had not been well for some time but had been able to continue his work. He suffered a stroke about dark Saturday, and was rushed by ambulance to Wynnewood hospital, passing away with a short time.

Services were held at the family home 1 mile south of Davis, at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. J. F. House of Sulphur conducted the service, and the music was furnished by Hennepin Baptist church.

Burial was in Green Hill cemetery under direction of Bahner funeral home. Pallbearers were Pat Rawls, Foster Thomas, Arleigh Wallis, Bill Williams, Jeff Ayers and Lon Willis Jr.

Mr. Hunt was born at Bastrop, Texas, May 6, 1902, coming to this community with his parents when only three months old. He was married to Miss Emma Willis on May 17, 1924.

He is survived by his wife and daughter Carolyn Joyce of the home; three sons, J. T. and Alvin of Davis and Dale Hunt of Dougherty, Okla.; two brothers, Buck Hunt of Ada and Hick Hunt of Davis; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Clements and Mrs. Josie West of Davis, Mrs. Lena Brassfield and Mrs. Fannie Keeling of Ada, Okla., and Mrs. Lorene Brown of Oklahoma City; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Solomon of Elgin, Texas, and Mrs. Alice West of Sulphur, Okla.; and two half-brothers, Bragg Hunt of Lockhart, Texas, and Andrew Hunt of San Antonio, Texas.

For years Mr. Hunt engaged in farming, and for nine years was employed at Makins sand and gravel plant at Dougherty. Quitting that work a short time ago he bought the Sunset station south of Davis, built a new home, and was building up a nice business. His funeral was attended by a large crowd form Davis, Dougherty, Hennepin and other places.
