J. A. Hunt, Pioneer, Claimed by Death

John A. Hunt, aged 88 years, pioneer farmer of this vicinity, died at his home in this city at 4 a.m. Saturday. His death was due to natural causes. His health had been failing for several years.

The funeral was held at the home at 10 a.m. Sunday. Services conducted by Rev. M. G. Wright and Rev. J. S. Ferguson. Burial in Green Hill cemetery.

Mr. Hunt was born near Florence, Ala., Dec. 30, 1846. From Alabama he moved to South Texas, then to Indian Territory, living in and around Davis about 30 years, and engaged in farming as long as his health would permit.

He was married three times and was the father of 20 children. Survivors from his first marriage are Andrew Hunt, San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Lizzie Solomon, Elgin, Texas.

Survivors from the second marriage are: Mrs. Bryant Rickard, Fletcher, Okla., Bragg Hunt, Post, Texas, and Mrs. Frank West, Davis. His third marriage was to Miss Alice Box on Jan. 16, 1894. From this union eight children were born, namely; Mrs. John Brassfield, Davis; Mrs. Fannie Keeland, Ada, Okla; Mrs. Joe West, Woodland; Mrs. Lorena Myers, Ada, Okla.; John, Leon, Steve and Miss Cora Hunt, all of Davis.

One brother, T. J. Hunt, lives in this city and two brothers and two sisters reside in Texas.

A number of relatives and friends from out-of-town were here for the funeral.
