From "The Minteers As I Have Known Them" by Josephine Minteer Dickinson (1961 limited-edition private printing of 200 copies), youngest and last surviving of William Minteer and Mary Nicholson's 85 grandchildren:

"Married Frank Clayton. She was an expert milliner for many years. After her marriage she lived in Eugene, Oregon. When her husband died she moved to Bartlettsville, Oklahoma, to live with her sister, Fay. I visited Ella for a day in July, 1954, in Bartlettsville. Fay was very ill in the hospital at this time and died a few weeks later. They had a lovely home and Fay looked like a "doll" very alert and interested, although she had been in the hospital for a year."
--------------------
In 1870 she lived with her parents and brother and four sisters on a farm in Perry Township, Armstrong County, PA. Her father was renting the farm and had personal property valued at $200.

In 1880 she lived with her parents and seven brothers and sisters in Millerstown (now Chicora), PA. Her father and brother William were laborers.

In 1900 she lived with her parents, sisters Nancy and Euphemia, and brother John on a farm in Fairview Township, Butler County, PA. Her father was a farmer, Nina a pants maker, John a pumper of oil wells, and she was a milliner.

In 1910 she lived with her parents and sister Euphemia in a house on Central Avenue in Millerstown (now Chicora), PA. Her father owned the home, mortgage free, and was living on his own income. She married Frank Clayton April 10, 1912 in Eugene, OR.

In 1920 she and her husband lived in a house on McKenzie Street (now McKenzie Highway) in Gate Creek (now Vida), OR. He worked as a merchant with a general store and owned their home, mortgage free.

In 1930 she and Frank still lived in Gate Creek. Their address was shown as McKenzie Highway, and both were shown as salesmen in a general merchandise store. They owned their home, which was valued at $400, and they had a radio.

In 1940 she and her sister Euphemia lived with their sister Melzina, her husband, and their son Beryl at 819 Osage Avenue in Bartlesville, OK.

In 1950 she, Euphemia, Melzina, and Beryl lived in the same house. Beryl worked as an oil producer in the oil industry.
