Mrs. Mary Klauk nee Backus, a longtime resident and settler of Kiel, died on Saturday morning at 10:30 am. She was the wife of Mr. John Klauk Sr. -The deceased first saw the light of the world (born) in Theilen, administrative district of Trier, Germany. She had reached the age of 68 years and 3 months. She had been married 49 years ago and first lived in Mequon, Ozaukee County, and for the past 30 years had been living in Kiel. The marriage was blessed with 14 children of whom 12 are still alive, 9 sons and 3 daughters. They are the following: Joseph in Stanley, Heinrich in Withee, August in Marshfield, Mathias in Sheboygan, Bernhard in Milwaukee, John, Frank, Nicolaus, Wilhelm, Mrs. John Meinert, Mrs. Alois Hein, and Mrs. Frank Groth all live in Kiel. Besides her mourning husband and children, she is survived by 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. The burial took place at the Catholic Cemetery where the 6 oldest sons were the pallbearers. Father Nickel officiated at the cemetery.
