Injuries Are Fatal To Aged Resident Here
John Klauck, 86, of 1116 Lincoln avenue, died at St. Nicholas hospital Wednesday of injuries he received Tuesday in an accident near his home.
Dr. Wesley Van Zanten, county coroner, said Mr. Klauck was helping push a cart loaded with wood up a driveway when the cart rolled back down the incline felling the aged man and running over him. He suffered a broken hip and shoulder.
Last November Mr. And Mrs. Klauck had observed their 60th wedding anniversary.
He was born on May 17, 1860, in Town Meeme, [ Saint James Church, Mequon, Wisconsin records indicate John was born in Mequon. DEK ] Manitowoc county, a son of John and Mary Klauck, and attended parochial schools. He was married to Kunigunda Winter of St. Anna on Nov. 10, 1885, in Kiel, by Rev. August Schleier at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Eight years after marriage the couple moved from a farm at St. Anna to the Klauck homestead, near Kiel, residing there until 1911 when they sold the farm and moved to Kiel. Since Aug. 2, 1924, Mr. Klauck was a resident of Sheboygan, and for a period of 11 years worked as a city employee, later retiring.
He was a member of Holy Name [Catholic] church and Holy Name society of the Parish. Survivors are the widow and seven children: Mrs. Albert (Emma) Graf, Mrs. Jacob (Ida) Henschel and Arthur, of Kiel, Edward of New Holstein, Mrs. Joseph (Sally) Schnur, Mrs. Harry (Teckla) Bohnsack, of Sheboygan, and Miss Anna Klauck at home. There are also 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren in the family group.
Other survivors are three brothers, Frank, of Kiel, Henry of Withee, WI, and Ben, of Milwaukee, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Meinert and Mrs. Maggie Hein, both of Kiel, and Mrs. Frank Grott of Cleveland WI, and many nieces and nephews.
Brief funeral services will held at Kroos Funeral home Saturday at 10:00 a.m., and at Holy Name church with a requiem high mass at 10:30 a. m. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Philipp Dreis will officiate. Interment is to be made on the family lot in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Friday morning until the hour of services.
All members of the Holy Name society of Holy Name parish are requested to attend the vigil in the praying of the rosary for their deceased member at Kroos Funeral home Friday evening at 8 o'clock.
