Richard was well known in Star Valley having lived most of his life here. He did clerical work in the Burton Mercantile Store for many years. He then went to Woods Cross, Utah and later to Rupert, Idaho before moving to Salt Lake City where he was resided in recent years. He was a High Priest and a worker in the Salt Lake Temple and Church offices.
Mr Astle was born in Montpelier Idaho on September 2, 1871, a son of John M. and Isabelle Bradshaw Astle.
Surviving are his widow, Henrietta Jensen Astle, two daughters Mrs. Laura Christensen of Woods Cross, and Eva Fowles of Salt Lake City and two sons, Norman J. Astle of Kemmerer, Wyoming; and Melvin J. Astle of Lafayette Ind. and following brothers and sisters; J. Francis Astle of Providence, Utah, Wm. Astle of Logan, Elizabeth McCombs of Logan, Sarah Call of Logan, Hyrum Astle of Amalga, Idaho and Violet Astle of Afton.
The funeral was held Sunday in Salt Lake City.
