The funeral of Mrs. Isabel Jane Bradshaw Astle, was held at the Afton meeting house last Sunday afternoon. A large crowd was present and the services were very solemn.
The speakers were A. Lu Hale, President Osmond, Louis C. Jenson, Charles D. Cazier, and bishop Osborne Low, Mark Hurd and Nelson, Miranda and Jennie Allred, sang a quartet.
Mrs. Astle was born March 14th 1816 at Bolton, Lancashire, England, and emigrated with her parents when ten years old. she walked across the plains with the Dan Taylor handcart company, and after a very strenuous journey landed in Salt Lake City, Christmas Day of the same year. a few Years later the Bradshaws moved to Cache Valley, and it was there that the deceased met and was married to John Astle on the ninth of December 1886.
The newly married couple soon moved to Bar Lake Valley where they made their home until 1887 when they moved to star Valley, where they have since resided.
Mrs. Astle leaves her husband and seven children besides a host of friends to mourn her loss. Her death came after an illness of several months which affected both her body and mind, she suffered considerably until near the last when her pain seemed to leave her and she passed away peacefully, on the 16th
