John Alva Astle 60, died at his home in Salt Lake City of a cerebral hemorrhage Tuesday afternoon. He has been in poor health for several years and for the last four months has suffered from frequent hemorrhages.
He was born Jan 17, 1891 at Afton, a son of John A. and Melvina Ann Banks Astle.
He married Tenie Anderson, daughter of A.P. Anderson of Grover, September 9, 1914 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He worked for the Burton Creamery under the direction of Albert Black for several years before he moved to Utah. He was employed by the Morrison & Merrill Co. at the time of his death. He was an elder in the 13th L.D.S. Ward.
Survivors are his widow; two sons Tracy and Melvine Astle of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Mrs. Dorene Scovil, Taylorsville, Mrs. Afton Smith and Mrs. Shirley Beaslin both of Salt Lake City and 12 grandchildren.
Also surviving are seven brothers, Alma Astle, American Fork, Utah, James Astle Green River Wyoming, Elwood Astle, Afton Wyoming, Lee Astle Salt Lake City, J. Francis, William and Hyrum Astle all of Logan; five sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Noffainger, Mrs. Mary Tripp, Mrs. Ruby Lundberg all of salt Lake City, Mrs. Sarah Call of Logan and Violet Afton, Wyoming.
Funeral services will be held in Salt Lake City Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Astle, John A. (30 Oct 1951)Star Valley Independent.
