PROMINENT MAN FROM GROVER DIED RECENTLY

John Astle of Grover Passes Away Very Suddenly---Death Occurred Oct. 11th

We have again been called upon to part with one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Star Valley, in the person of John Astle of Grover, who departed this life at 4 p.m. Saturday October 11, 1919.
M. Astle was born in Nottingham England, June 16, 1846, and at his death was seventy-three years of age. He left his native home for the sake of his religious belief, being a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and as a result came and settled with those of the same religious fervency in America. death found him a firm supporter and a faithful follower of the same faith.
Mr. Astle was an unusually industrious and intelligent man, and has certainly never been known to eat the bread of the idler.
His death being so sudden, cams as a great shock to everyone as he had just returned to Star Valley from a visit with relatives the day before, He left Afton Friday a.m. for Grover and up to a few moments before being found unconscious by his son Lehi, in his old home at Grover, seemed to be perfectly normal. For some unknown cause he became unconscious Friday afternoon, and never again regained consciousness, until death overtook him the following day, so that his life was filled with activity and usefulness to the very last moments of its mortal existence.
Funeral services were held in the Grover meeting house, tuesday. a large crowd was in attendance and the services were beautiful and impressive.
Eulogistic remarks, of the sterling qualities of his character were made by the following speakers: L.C. Jensen, Elmer McCombs, E.M. Thurman, Bishop Thurman, and O.P. Peterson.
A wife, Mrs. Millie Banks, of Salt Lake city and the fifteen following children still survive him: J.F. Alma, James R. and Lehi S. Astle of Grover; Lizzie McCombs and J.H. Astle of Smithfield, Utah; W. Astle of Metropolis, Nevada; Richard Astle of Rupert, Idaho; Elmond Astle, Mrs. Sarah Call and Miss Violet Astle of Afton; John A. Astle of Freedom; Slyvia Nofsinger, Mary Astle of Salt Lake City.
All those from the outside were present at the funeral.
May the good example set by Mr. Astle in so many different ways, be emulated by his friends and relatives at it may be still said of him, that "He being dead still speaketh."
