Samuel was one of eight children born to Charles Brooke 11 and Mary Ann Stott Fullerton Dunlap.There were five sons and three daughters,Samuel being fourth in line.His middle name, Stott, was the family name of his mother's stepfather. His family was originally from Oxford ,Chester County.
Eventually they moved to Delaware County and lived in Chester,
He married Laura Anderson also from Chester, on 1 October, 1910. They eloped to Wilmington, Delaware. They raised six children,two sons and four daughters.
He was employed by Baldwin Locomotive ,Eddystone for 41 years, where he was a core maker and foreman. He died at home after a brief illness at age sixty.
He is remembered by famly as a kind and loving father and grandfather.
