Lowell "Johnny" Jensen, 79, Afton died June 1, 1985 at his home. Funeral services were held June 5 in the Afton Third-Fourth Ward LDS Chapel with Bp. Paul Stauffer officiating. Burial was in the Afton Cemetery.
Johnny was born Sept 9, 1909 in Afton, Wyo to Adolph and Ida Kennington Jensen. He attended school in Afton, graduating in 1929. He was a member of the wresting, basketball and debate teams.
Johnny married Maxine Dana on Sept 1, 1937. They had five children, two boys and three girls.
As an active and hardworking boy, he was employed by many of the ranches in the valley, including his father's ranch. As an electrician he worked for Chris Call and the REA running power lines through Star Valley and the Swan Valley areas. During World War II he worked in Hanverd Wash. as an electrician. He did much of the wiring at the Palisades Dam. When the dam was completed, he returned to the valley to work for Chris Call until the REA took over then he worked for Lower Valley Power and Light until he retired in 1974. As a North Lincoln County Landfill employee, he was well known amongst the children in the last few years.
Johnny was a member of the Afton Fire department serving for 34 years.
He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time on Greys River fishing, hunting, camping and visiting with people.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, sons, Ron and Boyd Jensen of Afton; daughters; Helen Fraley of Afton, Sheryl Jensen of Atlanta GA, and Margene Jensen of Anchorage Ala,; sister Ola Roos of Sandpoint, Idaho, 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lester and Addie and a sister, Mart Osmond.
