John Nathan Boone, Jr. (Big Junior), age 74, of the Lily Branch Community, died Thursday, December 17, 1998, in a Spruce Pine Hospital. He was a son of Nate and Viola Conley Boone. He was an Army Veteran of WW11. He enlisted in the U S Army on November 3, 1942. He served in the U S Army, in France and Germany as a gallant soldier. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star and many other medals.
Survivors include his wife Gladys Conley Boone; daughter Scottie Wilson of Bakersville; stepson Richard Conley of Knoxville, Tenn; sisters, Lena Boone Howell Banner of Burnsville, Margaret Boone Howell of Kingman, Arizona, Lucille Boone Kimbrell of Atlanta, brothers, John Boone of Bakersville, Charles Boone of Destin, Florida, Worley Boone of Conover, Howard and Donald Boone, both of Atlanta, half brother Dr. John L. McLucas of Alexandria, VA., half sister, Jean McLucas Hamer, Florida, half brother Ronnie Dean Boone of Spruce Pine, step brothers Virgil of Atlanta and James Boone of Burnsville; one grandson and one great-grandson. Also, two sons by former wife, Tommie Garcia; Eugene Boone of Junction City, Colorado and Tom Boone of Florence, Colorado.
