Eldon Glen Hackler, 81, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday morning, May 13, 2003. Mr. Hackler retired from Jones Motor Co. and then worked with Carbonic Industries for nine years post retirement.
He was a 32nd degree Mason at the Taylor Lodge in Salem, a Shriner of the Kazim Temple, and an active member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Guyda Lineberry Hackler; a daughter, Carolyn and son-in-law, Ken Crawford of Asheboro, N.C.; a son, Mark Hackler and daughter-in-law, Vicky of Haymarket, Va.; three grandchildren, Eric Crawford of Raleigh, N.C., Caroline and Evan Hackler of Haymarket, Va.; two brothers, Don and Dean Hackler, and two sisters, Vena Rhudy and Mildred Phipps, all of Galax; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospitals, c/o Kazim Temple, 628 Campbell Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24016. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, from Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Alan D. Thorne will officiate. Interment service will be in Monta Vista Memorial Gardens, Galax, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel, Roanoke.
